Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has organised a Classical Vocal Concert by Vid. Hemmige S. Prashanth on Feb. 23 at 6 pm at the Sabha premises, JLB Road. This Endowment Programme in Memory of B.M. Subbanna is sponsored by Bellur Foundation.
Vid. Prashanth will be accompanied on violin by Vidu. Charulatha Ramanujan and Bangalore V. Praveen on mridanga.
Hemmige S. Prashanth was initiated into music by his parents Hemmige D. Sharangapani and Shakuntala Pani at an early age. Prashanth hails from the ancient village of Hemmige near Mysuru and is the grandson of the renowned Kannada and Sanskrit Scholar Hemmige Deshikachar. Prashanth belongs to the Ariyakudi – K.V. Narayanaswamy tradition of music.
He has been a disciple of Padma Shri, Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy for over 7 years and is now learning under Padma Narayanaswamy for over 16 years.
Prashanth is a popular Karnatak Vocalist. Despite being an electrical engineer, his passion for music has never stopped. Prashanth has performed at many prestigious Sabhas and Music Festivals in South India.
