Karnataka managed to register a 5-run win over Jharkhand in their Group ‘D’ opener of the Vijay Hazare Trophy One-Day Tournament played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata yesterday.
Karnataka batting first posted 266, relied on debutant off-spinner K. Gowtham’s four-wicket haul to wrap up the Jharkhand innings at 261 in 49.5 overs. Manish Pandey top scored with 77 runs for Karnataka.
Samarth (71), Pavan Deshpande (34) and Mayank Agarwal (26) were the other run-getters.
In reply, Jharkhand scored 261 in 49.5 overs. Saurabh Tiwary (63), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (43), Ishan Kishan (36) and I. Jaggi (25) were the other scorers. K. Giowtham took four for 58 and T. Pradeep chipped in with 2 for 49.
