Mysuru: Noted writer Savitha Nagabushan has been chosen for the prestigious ‘Vijaya Dabbe’ Literary Award (2025) for her work ‘Dinada Prarthane,’ a collection of poems. The award will be presented at a programme to be held in city on June 1.
Savitha’s work was published by Shivamogga-based Nudi Prakashana in 2024.
Samata Adhyayana Kendra, Mysuru, which had instituted the award in 2022, had invited entries from women writers, following which 110 works were received from writers and publishers.
A Selection Committee comprising veteran poets C. Sarvamangala, G.P. Basavaraju and Dr. M.S. Veda selected Savitha Nagabushan’s work “Dinada Prarthane” for this year’s award.
Profile: Born in 1961 at Chikkamagalur, Savitha had her education at Shivamogga and got her Post-Graduate degree in History. She, along with her writer husband D.S. Nagabushan brought out a newspaper titled ‘Hosa Manushya.’
Savitha, after serving in the Postal Department for over 20 years, took voluntary retirement and is currently residing at Shivamogga. She has many works to her credit including ‘Holemagalu,’ ‘Jaatreyalli Shiva’, ‘Darushana,’ ‘Karunalu,’ ‘Devarige Hodevu’ and ‘Kademaatu.’
