Anvita Srikiran and P.S. Shrutha, students of Vijaya Vittala Composite PU College, Saraswathipuram, gave a brilliant Violin Duo performance at the college auditorium as inaugural programme of ‘Fine Arts Club-2023’ recently.
Anvita Srikiran and Shrutha began the day’s performance by the traditional Varna, composed by Tiruvattiyur Thyagaiyar, in Saranga raga, Aadi Taala. Next performance was ‘Vidamuseya’ the composition of Sri Thyagaraja set in Kharaharapriya Raaga, Aadi Taala.
Next was Sri Thyagaraja composition, ‘Bantureethi Kolu’ in Hamsanaada raga, set in Adi Taala which was well presented with Raagalaapana, the rhythm was well paced with the swara sthanaas modulating effectively, also exhibiting the beauty of the instrument. Shuddha Dhanyasi Raaga, Aati tala tuned kruthi “Enthanerchina” the Thyagaraja keerthane was well presented with Bhakti rasa modulating with finesse of Bhava in which both artistes synchronised with good pace. The programme further progressed with the very famous popular number “Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma”, Purandara Dasa Kruthi with expertise in sangathis.
The programme concluded with the famous Thillana of Sri Balamurali Krishna tuned in Behag Raaga, Aadi taala to which the audience were enthralled at the proficiency of the instrument well defined with perfect Taala and swiftness as the song ventured into its uniqueness. Anvita and Shrutha were accompanied by Pramath Shankar on mridanga. The concert was well presented with ease, simplicity and divinity, winning applause and appreciation from the audience.
Anvita Srikiran is the daughter of Engineer from Mysuru, Srikiran and renowned flautist Smitha Srikiran. She is an achiever with accomplishment in the field of Karnatak classical music violin. She has been learning violin under the able guidance of Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy for the past 11 years. She has passed with a distinction in Junior and Senior Grade examinations conducted by Karnataka Music Examination Board with 96% in senior exam. She has won several awards and prizes under various inter-school and inter-college competitions, and organisations like Shruthi Manjari – Rotary and Ganabharathi Music Competitions.
She has performed under the aegis of Mysuru Akashvani and JSS Sangeetha Sabha. She has performed on various occasions such as Dasara Cultural Festivals at Jaganmohan Palace, Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, Bidaram Krishnappa Mandir and many more.
Shrutha is the daughter of P.K. Shyam and N.D. Vidya, who reside in Mysuru. She has been learning violin under the able guidance of Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy for the past 11 years. She has passed with a distinction in Junior and Senior Grade examinations conducted by Karnataka Music Examination Board with 93% in senior exam.
She has won the first prize in the inter-college competition in 2022, has won first prize in competition of Sulochana Pattabhiraman Utsava and first prize in Sangetha Shataranj competition at NIE College in 2021. Shrutha has also won several awards and prizes and has performed at programmes by organisations like Shruthi Manjari – Rotary and Ganabharathi and many more.
