MCC turns a blind eye on damaged compound wall of park at Mysore Palace North gate
Mysuru: It has been 10 months since the grills of the compound of Vishnuvardhan Park near the north gate of Mysore Palace was damaged in an incident of tree fall, neither of the authorities have repaired the same.
On Oct. 24, 2025, a huge Gulmohar tree at Vishnuvardhan Park uprooted and fell towards the road, damaging an autorickshaw parked in the vicinity. The auto driver had a providential escape in the incident, while his three-wheeler had been completely mangled. The iron grills which were badly damaged, leaned towards the footpath, while the part of concrete wall was broken, the debris of which can still be seen on the side of the footpath.
Mysore Palace, which is a prominent global attraction, draws tourists throughout the year. The pious among them, visit the historical Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, located at the north gate of the Palace. Those who wish to explore the tourist attractions nearby, take the footpath, only to be welcomed by broken compound wall and the grills protruding towards the footpath.
Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner M.K. Savitha, who recently inspected Jumboo Savari route ahead of Dasara, assured to take up the repair works of the compound wall of the park at the earliest.
