Visually impaired children to get all facilities: DC

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra said that the District Administration was committed to providing necessary facilities for visually impaired children.

He was speaking after inaugurating  World Braille Day celebration organised by the Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens at the Government School for the Blind in Tilaknagar here on Wednesday.

Pointing out that visually challenged children can directly complain about their grievances, if any, to the District Administration, the DC said that Louis Braille, the French educator who invented a reading and writing system for the blind, is a model to all the visually challenged on facing challenges and leading life.

Calling upon the visually challenged children to ignore their handicap and aim for achieving big in life, Dr. Rajendra said that they too can become a hope for the future generation by their contributions and services.

Earlier, the School children welcomed the DC by playing a band. School Superintendent Satish, Child Welfare Officer Manjula Patil, District Disabled Welfare Officer Malini, retired Disabled Welfare Officer Balaram and others were present.
