Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, will be presenting a Karnatak Classical Vocal Concert by Vidu. Vidya Nataraj from Canada at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar here on Nov. 16 at 6 pm.
She will be accompanied by Prithvi Bhaskar (disciple of Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy) on violin, senior artiste Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on mridanga and Vid. Sharath Koushik disciple of Vid. Tumkur Ravishankar) on ghata.
Artiste’s Profile: Born into a family of renowned classical musicians and musicologists. Vidya Nataraj’s life has been soaked in classical music from early childhood days. She has been trained under the strong guidance of her father and guru, the renowned Veena maestro, vocalist and vaggeyakara, Prof. R. Visweswaran.
Vidya’s performance career spans over 30 years with her first prodigious professional concert at the age of nine. The first State recipient of the National Talent Search Scholarship for 10 consecutive years, she has received several awards, prizes and accolades from stalwarts and aficionados in the field. An approved and graded vocalist on AIR, Vidya is a musician, a dedicated teacher and has been performing several concerts and feature programmes.
