Vokkaligara Sangha demands sacking of Minister Zameer

November 13, 2024

Bengaluru: State Vokkaligara Sangha has demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop the Minister for Housing, Waqf and Minority Affairs B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan from the Cabinet, for abusing Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy as ‘Kariya’ (‘Kaalia’).

The language used by Zameer is not just as an insult to Kumaraswamy, but for the entire Vokkaliga community and also the people of the State. It doesn’t behove Zameer for passing such a comment against the person, who was the Chief Minister of the State twice.

Such persons who speak crossing the lines of decency should not continue in the Cabinet, opined Vokkaligara Sangha, which has taken severe exception to the way Zameer has spoken light of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s family.

Zameer, while addressing an election rally ahead of the by-elections in Channapatna Constituency on Sunday, spoke in Urdu about the complexion of Kumaraswamy, making a racist slur, that has been reported in the media, which is unacceptable.

“We don’t have any objection towards the making of political comments by Zameer until and unless it won’t hurt anybody. But it doesn’t hold good to the position of Zameer for making abusive comments against the Union Minister, insulting him personally.  The way Zameer has defended his statement in the media, shows that the remark was not an act of slip of the tongue, but was made deliberately,” stated Vokkaligara Sangha.

Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmed should tender a public apology for commenting against our community leader Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda and family and behave without crossing the lines of decency, demanded Vokkaligara Sangha.
