Vokkaligara Sangha Director wants Community Development Board to become active

Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing Vokkaliga Development Corporation of being inactive, despite a year of its formation, Karnataka Vokkaligara Sangha Director K.V. Sridhar, who is also a MCC Corporator, said that the State Government should take measures to activate the Corporation.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, K.V. Sridhar said Vokkaliga Development Corporation came into being last year and the Government announced Rs. 500 crore grant for the Corporation in last year’s budget.

Alleging that the announced grant is yet to be released, Sridhar wanted the Government to add another Rs. 500 crore in this year’s budget, so that the Corporation can take up initiatives and launch schemes.

Noting that nothing much has happened except for the nomination of a couple of members for the Corporation, he cautioned that the community would have to take to the streets if the Government does not release the announced funds.

Another Director C.G. Gangadhar, who also addressed the press meet, said that the Corporation was only on paper and nothing much has happened in reality. Noting that BJP MLA from Bengaluru M. Krishnappa has been appointed as the first Chairman of the Corporation, Gangadhar cautioned that a movement would be launched for the ouster of Krishnappa if he failed to become active and work towards achieving the objectives of the Corporation.

Mysuru District Vokkaligara Sangha office-bearers Mariswamy and Chetan were present at the press meet.
