Mysore/Mysuru: Seshadripuram Degree College, NSS Unit and Youth Red Cross Unit in association with Blood Bank, K.R. Hospital, Mysuru and District Aids Prevention Control Unit had organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp to commemorate the ‘Martyrs Day’ on Jan.30 in the College campus.
Dr. B.S. Manjunath, Blood Bank Officer, K.R. Hospital Blood Bank, who was the chief guest, emphasised the importance of blood donation, as there is an acute shortage of blood supply due to Covid pandemic situation in the world.
Stating that an individual can save three precious lives by donating blood, he gave a call for youngsters to come forward and donate blood regularly.
Dr. M.B. Suresh Coordinator, NSS Unit, University of Mysore, who was the guest of honour, suggested the students to participate actively in such camps.
Totally 80 units of blood was collected by the students, staff, public and the alumni on the occasion.
Prof. K. Sowmya Erappa, Principal, Seshadripuram Degree College, Hebbal Ring Road, Mysuru, along with teaching faculty members, non-teaching staff and students were present at the programme, according to a press release.
