Voter’s list rigged, alleges Ramdas; to stage protest tomorrow

Mysuru: Former Minister S.A. Ramdas has threatened to launch an agitation in front of the DC Office tomorrow at 11 am alleging conspiracy by the State Government in tampering with the voter’s list in a few wards of K.R. Constituency even as the elections are fast approaching.

He visited the Jyothi Shikshana Samsthe near Vivekananda Circle this morning and after scrutinising the application forms, he alleged that all the 600 application forms had the signature of only one person. Some of the names had been deleted as they were said to be transferred and a few names were removed as they were supposed to be dead, he charged.

He said that with the elections fast approaching, the Congress Government in the State has realised that it will lose the elections in K.R. Constituency and hence is going all out using (or misusing) its official machinery to rig the voter’s list. There are nearly 600 voters in Zone-3, booths 36, 37, 38, 39 and 44 and 45.

However, a few of the Booth Level Officers, said that Revenue Inspector Narayanaswamy, on the directions of the Election Commission, had asked them to verify each application submitted in Form-7 by visiting door-to-door.

On visiting a few houses, they found that while in a few houses the names of the persons which had been deleted as they were supposed to have been transferred were still living in the same house, a few names that had been deleted because they were dead. This was found to be true. Hence, there will be a thorough check and if any illegal activity has occurred, it will be brought to the notice of the higher authorities, the BLOs said.
