Voting is everyone’s right: ZP CEO P. Shivashankar

Mysuru:  Stating that the Assembly polls schedule may be announced any time, ZP CEO P. Shivashankar has called upon the voters to exercise their franchise without any fear.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Backward Classes Cell of the University of Mysore (UoM) at Senate Bhavan, Manasagangothri here yesterday.

Emphasising on the need for compulsory voting, he called upon the youths to voluntarily register in electoral rolls.

Expressing disappointment that educated voters were shying away from exercising their franchise, Shivashankar said there was ‘NOTA’ option for voters who were not interested in electing any candidate.

Reiterating that the people should not skip voting for any reason, he underlined the importance of exercising franchise.

Maintaining that personality development is vital for career advancement, he called upon the Backward Class students to acquire knowledge in every subject and face competitive exams with total confidence.

UoM in-Charge VC Prof. C. Basavaraju presided. Social Welfare Department District Officer G.S. Somashekar, Syndicate members Kumar and Ramesh, Dr. B.V. Suresh Kumar, Dr. M.P. Sadashiva and others were present.
