Mysore/Mysuru: Vice-President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan will be visiting the Sri Cheluvanarayanaswamy Temple at Melukote in Mandya on Nov. 9.

He will be arriving at Melukote at 10 am in a helicopter and will be accorded ‘Poorna Kumbha Swagatha’ (traditional welcome) by the temple priests.

He will be visiting the temple and also have darshan of Sri Ramanujacharya before leaving Melukote at 11 am.

Mandya Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Kumara and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mallikarjun Baladandi visited Melukote and inspected the Primary Health Centre (PHC) grounds where a helipad will be readied for VP’s helicopter.

DC Kumara also held a meeting with Temple Executive Officer Sheela and Parupathedar Sthanachar Srinivas Narasimhan and instructed them to ensure suitable arrangements without giving room for any lapse during the Vice-President’s visit.

No entry for public

In the wake of Vice-President Radhakrishnan’s visit to Melukote on Sunday, the Mandya District Administration has banned the entry of general public to Melukote from 9 am till the departure                of the Vice-President.

Installation of Jain Muni statue

After visiting Melukote, VP Radhakrishanan will leave for Shravanabelagola in Hassan to take part in installation ceremony of Padmacharya Shantisagara Muni Maharaj’s statue and unveil the name of fourth hillock. The event has been organised to commemorate the centenary year of Shantisagar Maharaja’s visit to the place during Mahamastakabhisheka of Lord Bahubali in 1925.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy, Hassan District Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Minister D. Sudhakar, Hassan MP Shreyas Patel and MLA C.N. Balakrishna will also take part in the event.
