Mysore/Mysuru: Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru and GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, emerged winners in the men’s and women’s category respectively in the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Inter-Collegiate Mysuru Division Badminton Men & Women Championships 2024-25 organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, recently at NIE Diamond Jubilee Indoor Sports Complex here.
The Championships was inaugurated by Dr. Harsha Viman, Coach, National Badminton Player & PAN India Master’s Games Silver Medallist. Dr. C. Vidhya Raj, Dean – Academic Affairs, NIE, Mysuru, Dr. M.P. Muralidhar, Mysuru Division Regional Director, Physical Education, VTU, R. Kavya, Physical Education Director, NIE South Campus and H.C. Sudina, Physical Education Director, NIE North Campus, were present. At the end of the day, prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. S. Parameshwar, Head, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, NIE, Mysuru and Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, Public Relations Executive, NIE.
Results: Men’s Category — Final: VVCE, Mysuru beat PES College of Engineering (PESCE), Mandya 3-1; Semi-finals: VVCE, Mysuru beat NIE, Mysuru 3-1; PESCE, Mandya beat Coorg Institute of Technology (CIT), Ponnampet 3-1.
Women’s Category — Final: GSSSIETW, Mysuru beat VVCE, Mysuru 2-0; Semis: GSSSIETW, Mysuru beat PESCE, Mandya 2-0; VVCE, Mysuru beat NIE, Mysuru 2-0.
