VTU Inter-Collegiate State-level Women’s Football Championship: RVCE, Bengaluru emerge as champions

RVCE, Bengaluru women's football team receiving the winner's trophy during the valedictory of VTU Inter-Collegiate State-level Women’s Football Championship and Selection Trials 2026-27 organised by the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) at its North Campus in Koorgalli recently.

Mysuru: RV College of Engineering (RVCE) Women’s Football team emerged as the champions in VTU Inter-Collegiate State-level Women’s Football Championship and Selection Trials 2026-27 defeating St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru 3-0.

The tournament was organised by Department of Physical Education, National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) at NIE North Campus at Koorgalli recently.

International football and handball player Tara R. Aragam inaugurated the tournament. The event was presided by NIE Hon. Treasurer N. Sathya Kumar. Principal Dr. B. S. Nagendra Parashar, Dean (Planning and Infrastructure) Dr. H. S. Prasanna, Physical Education Director R. Kavya, Assistant Physical Education Director Bharath U. Kumar were present.

The tournament was organised to promote women’s participation in football and to scout talented players to represent the University in state and national level events.

Engineering colleges from across the State including The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT), St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, New Horizon College of Engineering, RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT), RV College of Engineering (RVCE), M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) and Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) took part in the tournament.

Results

Quarter Finals: BMSCE, Bengaluru beat NIE, Mysuru 2-1; SJEC, Mangaluru beat NHCE, Bengaluru 4-0; CMRIT, Bengaluru beat RNSIT, Bengaluru 2-0; RVCE, Bengaluru (BYE).

Semi Finals: SJEC, Mangaluru beat BMSCE, Bengaluru 3-1; RVCE, Bengaluru beat CMRIT, Bengaluru 2-0

Final: RVCE, Bengaluru beat SJEC, Mangaluru 3-0
