Mysore/Mysuru: A walk has been organised to Chamundi Hill from the foothills (near Suttur Mutt) on Feb. 1 at 7.30 am, under the aegis of ‘Parisarakkagi Navu’ organisation, urging for the conservation of Chamundi Hill.
Bhamy Shenoy of Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP), MLA Darshan Puttannaiah, Civil Engineer & Historian A.S. Dharmendra Kumar, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Mysuru Chapter Convener Prof. N.S. Rangaraju, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) State President Badagalapura Nagendra, Dr. Ramakrishnappa, Theatre Director and Activist C. Basavalingaiah, former Programme Co-ordinator of National Service Scheme (NSS) at UoM Prof. K. Kalachannegowda, People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) Mysuru President Kamal Gopinath and Rural Literacy and Health Program (RLHP) Director K. Saraswathi will be joining the walk.
They will urge the authorities to stop works atop Chamundi Hill and utilise the funds granted under PRASHAD Scheme to build parking lot for private vehicles at the foot of Chamundi Hill, to purchase electric vehicles, to manage waste and drainage water, apart from using the funds to preserve the Hill’s religious, spiritual and heritage significance.
