Walkathon by API marks World Diabetes Day in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Marking the World Diabetes Day (WDD), Association of Physicians of India (API) had organised an awareness walkathon with the theme ‘Access to Diabetes Care’ in city this morning.

Senior Physician and Consultant Dr. C.D. Srinivasa Murthy flagged-off the walkathon in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the  North Gate of Mysore Palace in city.

Over 400 Post-Graduate students from Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) and JSS Medical College and nursing students of MMC&RI participated in the walkathon which passed through Chamaraja Circle, Platinum Jubilee Clock Tower, Gandhi Square, Sayyaji Rao Road, Government Ayurveda College Circle, Irwin Road and culminated at J.K. Grounds.

The participants carried placards with messages such as ‘Education to protect tomorrow,’ ‘Keep ourselves fit,’ ‘ Exercise in blue,’ ‘Eat healthy food’ etc.

API Chairman Dr. M.M. Basavaraj, Vice-Chairman Dr. H.G. Ashok, General Secretary Dr. Y.S. Ravi Kumar, members Dr. Prasannakumar, Dr. Laxmegowda, Dr. Vamadeva, Dr. Bhanu Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
