Walkathon to mark ‘World Diabetes Day’ on Nov. 14

Mysuru: Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, Gokulam, has organised a walkathon on Nov. 14 as part of World Diabetes Day.

The day is being observed with the theme ‘Women and Diabetes – Our Right to a Healthy Future.’ The walkathon will be flagged off from Cheluvamba Park at 7 am and will pass through Vontikoppal signal, V.V. Mohalla 6th Main and culminate at Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre on Gokulam Main Road.

Registration is free and all participants will be given a T-shirt and cap.

Later, Dr. P.M. Uthappa, Head, Department of Nephrology, Columbia Asia Hospital, Dr. Renukaprasad, Consultant and Head, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre and Dr. Manoj, Viteroretinal Surgeon, The Mysuru Retina Care, will deliver awareness talks.

The Centre will also conduct a mega health camp during which screening will be done for blood sugar, BP and diabetic retinopathy. This apart, free HBA1C test for first 100 patients, BMI assessment, body fat analysis/IDRS analysis, diet counselling, specialists consultation will be done between 8.30 am and 5 pm.  Breakfast will be provided at the Centre between 8.30 am and 9.30 am.
