Walkathon on poverty alleviation

Mysuru:  About 400 people from all ages took part in the ‘Walkathon-2018’ awareness rally aimed at poverty alleviation in city yesterday.

The rally with the theme “Poverty alleviation through community financing” was organised by DHAN Foundation, a city-based professional development organisation that is working towards bringing significant changes in the lines of the poor through innovative themes.

Former Mayor Purushottam flagged off the rally at Ambedkar Park in Ashokapuram.

The rally, with participants holding placards that carried messages on poverty alleviation and eradication, passed through Ashoka Circle (Ballal Circle), JLB Road, RTO Circle and the City Law Courts Complex, before culminating at Shivaram Pitch near Aranya Bhavan in Ashokapuram.

The event Co-ordinator P.D. Sindhu and others were present on the occasion.
