An aspirant for the Police Constable’s post undergoes his chest measurement test at CAR Grounds this morning as Chamarajanagar Additional SP Geetha Prasanna looks on. Today, over 500 candidates were tested and tomorrow another set of 500 candidates will undergo tests.

Mysuru: Over 500 aspirants for Civil Policemen’s post in the city appeared for the gruelling physical fitness test at the CAR Grounds this morning.

There are 200 vacant posts and among them, 40 are reserved for women. The written tests for the jobs were held on June 23 this year.

Aspirants from Mysuru, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu had come for the selection. The physical test will be conducted for 500 more aspirants, women candidates and ex-servicemen tomorrow.

After the preliminary height, weight and chest measurement tests, the candidates underwent long jump test and other activities. While 1,600 mts run was fixed for men, women candidates have to run for 400 mts.

The recruitment drive was supervised by City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao who is also the Recruitment Committee President and Additional SP N. Rudramuni, and Chamarajanagar Additional SP Geetha Prasanna, members of the committee.

The aspiring candidates should have passed PUC and they should have attained 19 years of age. Age limit for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates have been relaxed up to 27 years and for General Merit candidates, the maximum age is 25 years. For ex-servicemen, it is a maximum of 27 years and relaxation will be given based on their service.
