Warrior women win exhibition match

The Karnataka Cricket Association (KSCA) offers a platform for the women to showcase their cricketing talent by organising exhibition matches for them in the KPL. There are four teams this year — Mysuru Warriors, Shivamogga Lions, Bijapur Bulls and Belagavi Panthers. The teams will be coached by former Indian players Mamatha Maben and Kalpana Venkatachar.

This matches will pave way for the creation of Women’s KPL tournament in future. Keeping the future prospects in mind, two exhibition matches will be conducted this season. Indian cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy is also listed amongst the playing probables in these matches.

In yesterday’s encounter, Mysuru Warriors defeated Shivamogga Lions by 4 wickets at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium. After winning the toss, Lions put up a score of 93 for 6 in 20 overs. In reply, Warriors got off to a poor start. They were staring at defeat as they were positioned at 31 for 5 at the end of 10th over. Akanksha Kohli and Aditi shared a crucial partnership of 55 runs from 33 balls and took the game away from Lions. In the other exhibition match, Bijapur Bulls took on Belagavi Panthers today.
