Waste dumped from RBI Note Press took Harshal’s life: HDK

Mangaluru – State JD(S) President and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy has alleged that the waste dumped by the Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudranalaya at Shyadanahalli near Belavatha caused the death of Harshal.

Speaking to reporters in Mangaluru this morning, Kumaraswamy said that the RBI Note Press uses various inks and chemicals to produce currency notes. “As per procedures, the chemical waste must be treated before being let out to any open area. But I have got reports that the RBI authorities dump the waste beyond its campus without treating them,” he alleged.

To support his claims, Kumaraswamy said that Shyadanahalli where the boy met with the accident was located close to the RBI campus. “RBI must take the blame and take measures to prevent such incident in the future,” he said.

“The Karnataka Pollution Control Board officials have turned a blind eye to this act of RBI at Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s hometown. I have asked the constituency MLA (G.T. Devegowda) to submit me a report so that I can take it up at higher levels,” he added.
