Mysuru: Vivekananda Institute for Leadership Development (V-LEAD), Mysuru, is conducting a Management Development Programme (MDP) on “Integrated Water Resource Management” (IWRM) for the Engineers of the Government of Karnataka at its campus here from Feb.18 to Mar.2
The main objective of this unique two-week residential course is to increase the knowledge of water resources management and motivate Engineers to meet the challenges that are faced in India with special emphasis on Karnataka. The MDP also aims to improve the capacity to comprehend and analyse the problems connected with IWRM and discuss potential solutions.
The course is specifically designed for the Engineers of Irrigation, Water Resources Department and the Staff of Command Area Development Authority, Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka. The course is tailor- made to the training needs of Advanced Centre for Integrated Water Resource Management (ACIWRM), Bengaluru and will have the funding, guidance and certification of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with UNESCO as a partner.
ACIWRM Registrar Gurupada Swamy inaugurated the programme and oriented the participants about the training. He also explained about scientific and sustainable management of water resources.
ACIWRM Director (Technical) Dr. P. Somashekar Rao felt that this event would be significant for building the capacity of Water Resources Department in the context of developing River Basins.
SVYM President Dr. M.R. Seetharam, in his presidential address stressed on importance of water resource integration.
V-LEAD Director S. Sudarshan proposed a vote of thanks, according to a press release from V-LEAD.
