Mandya: A 23-year-old youth allegedly stabbed his mother to death with a knife for advising him on his birthday. The incident took place on Nov.29 at Kiranguru village in Srirangapatna taluk.

The deceased is Amala Mary (46), wife of Prakash Kumar and the youth who stabbed her to death is her eldest son Prajwal.

On Nov.29, which was Prajwal’s birthday, his mother Mary advised him not to fall to bad habits, stay away from bad people and lead a good life.

Irked over this, Prajwal began to argue with her and when the argument went out of control, he picked up a knife and stabbed her on stomach and thigh injuring her seriously.

Mary’s second son Rohan, who came to the house, saw his mother bleeding and immediately rushed her to a local hospital and later shifted her to a hospital in Mysuru, where Mary succumbed to injuries.

Based on the complaint by Rohan, Srirangapatna Police, who have registered a case, have launched a hunt to nab Prajwal, who is absconding.
