Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Botany, Sarada Vilas College, Mysuru, had organised a one-day webinar on ‘Restoration of Forest Ecosystem: Ways and Means’ as part of World Environmental Day on June 5.
Dr. U.M. Chandrashekara, Scientific Advisor and Senior Principal Scientist (retd.), Kerala Forest Research Institute Sub-Centre, Nilambur, Mallapuram district, Kerala, was the resource person. The presentation was meticulously made and presented, which had all the details of ecosystem and threat for ecosystem, its restoration, general types of forests in Western Ghats, causes for degradation of forest ecosystem and more.
Nearly 100 participants attended the webinar on Google Meet and other 250 participants watched it in YouTube live stream using the link.
Dr. B.M. Subraya, President, Sarada Vilas Educational Institution (SVEI), N. Chandra-shekar, Hon. Secretary, SVEI, Dr. M. Devika, Principal, SVEI, were the other dignitaries who attended the event.
Dr. Devika delivered the inaugural address. S.B. Gagana, Assistant Professor in Botany, welcomed. Suganthi S. Singh, Associate Professor of Physics, introduced the guest speaker. Dr. A.N. Jyothi, Assistant Professor in Commerce, proposed a vote of thanks, according to a press release.
