Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Astronomical Society (MAS), Mysuru, one of the prominent astronomical clubs in Karnataka, is organising a Webinar on ‘Science Play on Fascinating Astronomy’ on July 26 (Sunday) at 6 pm through online platform.
The resource person is Dr. R. Purnima, Director, Children’s Literary Club and formerly, Professor in English, Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysuru. The play will be in English and belongs to the genre of Science Drama. It covers the Life and Times of Galileo Galilei, William and Caroline Herschel, besides referring to several others, including the Indian Astronomers of the past.
A recipient of Karnataka State Theatre Academy Award, Dr. Purnima has been awarded Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Fellowship with the affiliation, University of Texas, Austin, USA for the topic “Empowering Young Lives through Arts: The Role of Educational Theatre in America.”
She has acted, directed and produced concept designing, script writing, costume designing and theatre management. Besides writing books and articles, she has chaired sessions, delivered talks, conducted workshops, presented papers in State, National and International seminars and conferences.
The Webinar shall be conducted through Google meet. It is open for all. No registration fee.
