Mysuru: Week-long Film Festival, organised by Department of Information and Public Relations, was inaugurated by ZP CEO P. Shivashankar at Olympia Theatre here yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Shivashankar called upon people to watch Kannada movies in theatre in order to save the Kannada Film Industry.
Citing the example of Dr. Rajkumar starrer ‘Bangarada Manushya,’ Shivashankar said that many youngsters, who were influenced by the movie, took to agriculture and added that such movies which have good messages must be encouraged as they had a great impact on the society.
Information and Public Relations Assistant Director Raju, BEO Uday Kumar, Education Officer Rajashekar and Olympia Talkies Supervisor Krishnappa were present.
The authorities screened the movie ‘Amaravathi’ directed by Giriraj. The movie is based on the problems faced by Pourakarmikas.
The movies will be screened at 10.30 am (morning show) and entry is free.
