Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that the Government is doing what it can to contain the spread of the second wave of the deadly COVID-19 virus, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti said it had become inevitable for the Government to impose weekend curfew as the situation was going out of control.
Speaking to presspersons after taking part in a function at a Kalyana Mantap in Vijayanagar here yesterday, Horatti observed that more people would die of the deadly pandemic if curfew and other stringent measures are not taken.
Asserting that lives are more important than livelihood, he said that the Government is taking decisions taking into consideration what is best for the safety and well-being of the people.
Pointing out that he had suggested imposition of weekend curfew at the all-party meeting convened by the Governor recently to discuss COVID-19 control measures, Basavaraj Horatti maintained that several leaders from all parties had supported him.
Now, the Government has imposed weekend curfew and has taken several other measures to stem the spread of the virus.
