Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has organised two Karnatak Classical music concerts for the endowment in birthday rememberances of Rangarajan Iyengar, sponsored by Iyengar Brothers, USA on Dec.7 (Saturday) at 6 pm and Lalitha V. Murthy on Dec. 8 (Sunday) at 5.30 pm sponsored by Dr. Prathibha Periera, Padma Satish and Monica Venkatesh Murthy.
On Dec.7, Koviladi R.Kala with L. Archana will give a vocal concert. Her accompanists are Venkatesh Josier on violin, A. Radhesh on mridanga and V.S. Ramesh on morching.
Vidu. Koviladi Kala hails from a musical family from Tamil Nadu.Father Koviladi Rangarajan was a well-known Musician. Kala did her graduation in Music from Madras University. Presently a resident of Mysuru, she is a graded artiste from AIR and Doordarshan and has been succesfully in the concert circuit for over three decades receiving accolades from the Rasikas. She is a good Guru and has given many performing artistes to the field of Music.
On Dec.8, V.Vamshidhar will perform on flute with Mattur Srinidhi on violin, H.S.Sudheendra on mridanga and G.S. Ramanujan on ghata as accompanists.
Mysore V. Vamshidhar is an ‘A’ Grade Flautist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He hails from a family of great musical luminaries. Grandson of Venu Vidwan V. Desikachar, he had his initial training in music from his grandfather and presently under the expert tutelage of his uncle D. Balakrishna, a reputed Veena Vidwan.
Vamshidhar has developed a style, blending tradition, soothing melody and enriched nuances of raga and devotion, which are all the hallmarks of the spiritually oriented Karnatak music.
He is a Post-Graduate in Commerce and presently employed in State Bank of India, Mysuru.
