Mysuru: Two Karnatak Music Vocal Concerts have been scheduled for this weekend at the heritage house of Mysore K. Vasudevacharya near Agrahara in city.

Vid. G.K. Manamohan will be performing on Saturday (Jan. 7) accompanied by Vid. Keshav Mohan Kumar on violin.

Vid. Aditya Mohan from Chennai will be giving the concert on Sunday (Jan. 8) accompanied by Vid. Rupanagudi Ratnateja on violin and Vid. M.R. Manjunath on mridanga.  Both the concerts are scheduled to start at 10.30 am and are open to all music enthusiasts.

PROFILES

Vid. Manamohan has learnt under Vidu. H.N. Rajalakshmi, Vidu. Vasanta Sundararajan and Vidu. Pushpa Srinivasan in city. He started performing full-fledged Karnatak vocal concerts since the age of thirteen. He has given concerts in many renowned organisations and Sabhas in Karnataka and in the US.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a Master’s degree (MS) in Environmental Science (USA). He has served at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), as Environment Health & Safety Specialist for thirteen years.

Initially trained by his father G. Mohan and Sethu Mahadevan, Vid. Aditya is presently under the guidance of Chitravina N. Ravikiran and Chitravina Ganesh. He started giving solo vocal concerts in 2003 and has since given over 500 concerts, with performances in various places across the country.

Vid. Keshava, a disciple of Vid. Narasimha Murthy and Vid. Ratnateja, trained by Mysore Manjunath, are both promising young violinists well-known in the city. Vid. Manjunath is an established percussionist with over four decades of stage experience.
