Wesley Cathedral, Yesu Karunalaya celebrate anniversaries

Mysuru; City’s Wesley Cathedral, situated near Suburban Bus Stand and Yesu Karunalaya Church at Karunapura, both belonging to Church of South India (CSI) celebrated their anniversaries yesterday. While Wesley Cathedral celebrated its 148th anniversary, Yesu Karunalaya Church celebrated its 118th anniversary. The celebrations were organised at Yesu Karunalaya Church, which was inaugurated by CSI-KSD Bishop Rt. Rev. Mohan Manoraj.

Both the churches have been renovated at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh each, through grants from the State Government. Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Mohan Manoraj said that the State Government had sanctioned a total of Rs. 15 crore for 32 churches and thanked CM Siddharamaiah and Minority Welfare Minister Tanveer Sait for it. Out of the Rs. 30 lakh grant for Yesu Karunalaya Church, the Church has been completely renovated with the installation of a teak wood clock, RCC roofing, installation of a 60 kg bell in a 64 ft. tall Bell Tower, latest technology sound system and complete electrification works undertaken.

Earlier, Bishop Mohan Manoraj, who inaugurated the renovated Yesu Karunalaya Church, delivered the message of God.

Corporators R. Kamala Udayakumar and S. Swamy, CSI-KSD Vice-President Rev. Sr. Sujatha, Treasurer Vincent Palanna, Presbyters Rev. K.P. Devakumar and Rev. Grateful Jayashekar and others were present.
