It was western scholars who introduced Dr. Ambedkar to the world: Peddi Mutt Seer

July 21, 2017

Mysuru:“It was western scholars and not Indians who introduced the Father of the Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to the world,” said Urilingi Peddi Mutt’s Jnanaprakash Swamiji. He was speaking at ‘Tamagido Namma Gourava Namana’ organised jointly by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat (ZP), Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and Social Welfare Department in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate here yesterday.

Claiming that most Indians did not accept Dr. Ambedkar’s ideologies, the Swamiji said that some Western scholars who were impressed by Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts, propagated his ideologies in the Western world.

Regretting that Indians gave more prominence to caste, he said that the United Nation Organisation (UNO) has declared Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary as ‘World Knowledge Day’.

Earlier, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar inaugurated the event. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statue at Town Hall was garlanded marking the occasion, following which a procession was taken out.

The procession passed through K.R. Circle and culminated at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple.

Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Chairman B. Siddaraju, Mysuru Lac and Paints (Mylac) Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, Corporators K.V. Mallesh, Jagadish and Sunil Kumar, DSS leaders Ningaraj Malladi, Devagalli Somashekar and others were present.
