Why this lack of civic sense among people?

June 5, 2024

Sir,

I rightly agree with the reader’s view that only government shouldn’t be blamed for garbage dumping on roadsides (“Is government alone to blame for garbage crisis?” SOM dated May 25).

I am a resident of Bank Employees Colony, Bogadi. Here too I find bags of garbage being strewn on either side of the road at the entrance of the Colony.

Aren’t the people ashamed to throw the filth of their homes in the public place although the Bogadi Town Panchayat garbage van is regularly  coming to  collect garbage every alternate day ?

This is not the case only in our Colony.  This is seen in most of the areas. Educated, cultured people doing this shameful act is indeed shocking.

Hope some basic civic sense is instilled in their minds and they mend their ways.

Merely blaming the government for everything is senseless.
