Will contest next polls from BJP: Basavaraj Horatti

Hubballi: Announcing that he will contest the forthcoming Legislative Council polls from West Teachers Constituency on a BJP ticket, Legislative Council Chairman and JD(S) MLC Basavaraj Horatti said that he will join the BJP after the poll schedule is announced.

Speaking to presspersons here yesterday,  Horatti said that BJP National President J.P. Nadda and former CM B.S. Yediyurappa have spoken to him in this regard.

He said that he will announce the date of joining the BJP once the poll schedule is announced.

Maintaining that the BJP has not announced its candidate for the West Teachers Constituency as the party would give him the ticket, Horatti said that former CM and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy too has given consent for his decision to join the BJP.

He further said that he was compelled to join the BJP as all the top leaders of the party had agreed for his admission.

When asked about Opposition from some BJP leaders, Horatti said he was not bothered about those opposing him and top leaders of the BJP have welcomed his decision to join the party.
