Mysuru / Mandya: Seeking divine intervention on his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s electoral victory in Mandya and for the stability of JD(S)-Congress Coalition Government in Karnataka, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) has reportedly agreed to fulfil the vow of providing a Golden Chariot to Sri Kukke Subramanya Temple.
Acting on the advice of an astrologer, Kumaraswamy has conveyed his willingness to re-initiate the project to the Temple authorities and Muzrai Department that manages the Temple, said reports from Bengaluru and Kukke Subramanya.
The promise of Golden Chariot to Kukke Subramanya was made 15 years back when N. Dharam Singh became the Chief Minister of Congress-JD(S) Coalition Government (2004-2006) and he even promised to sanction money for the project. But the promise remains unfulfilled and even when Kumaraswamy became the CM with the help of BJP in February 2006, the Rs.200 crore project never saw the light of the day.
Worried over his son’s political debut in Mandya, Kumaraswamy met astrologer Dwarakanath, who is popularly called as ‘Raja Guru,’ in political and social circles. The meeting took place at CM’s Home Office ‘Krishna’ in Bengaluru last night and Dwarakanath has reportedly told Kumaraswamy that the Golden Chariot vow has to be fulfilled and if it is abandoned, it may incur the Lord Subramanya’s wrath.
Dwarakanath is one of the well-known astrologers whom most politicians, irrespective of the party they belong to, seek blessings and take advice from before plunging into any political decisions. Reports said that following Dwarakanath’s advice, Kumaraswamy has directed the Muzarai Department to take up the project.
Speaking to reporters, Dwarakanath said that the promise of Golden Chariot was made by Dharam Singh and he had given his word on that. “The promise has not been fulfilled so far and even there was no cooperation from the government officers. Kumaraswamy told me that he will re-initiate the project,” he said and added, “I told the CM that once the works of the Golden Chariot is completed, all the problems will be solved.”

Meanwhile, State Intelligence Department has predicted a setback to Nikhil Kumaraswamy in three Assembly segments in Mandya Parliamentary seat — Malavalli, Maddur and Mandya. As per the report, it is predicted that except Halagur Hobli in Malavalli taluk, Nikhil has suffered a huge set back against Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambarish. In Maddur and Mandya segments too, Sumalatha is leading against Nikhil.
According to sources, Kumaraswamy has charged Malavalli MLA K. Annadani, Maddur MLA, also Transport Minister, D.C. Thammanna and Mandya MLA M. Srinivas for their ‘failure’ in garnering votes for his son. The CM has blamed the MLAs for their failure in taking Congress party workers into confidence during the election campaigning.
