Mysore/Mysuru: Rumours are rife within the BJP that former Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha might be the chosen candidate for the upcoming Channapatna Assembly bypoll, representing BJP-JD(S) alliance.
Insiders reveal that Simha was seen actively campaigning for H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Mandya BJP-JD(S) alliance candidate, further fuelling speculation about his potential candidacy in Channapatna.
The State BJP is facing criticism for lacking a strong Opposition leader capable of shaking up Legislative Assembly. The high command is reportedly dissatisfied with leaders who are not being forceful enough to put the Congress Government in a tight spot.
On his candidature for Channapatha bypoll Simha said, “I won’t comment on speculation. However, I’m not someone who sits quietly observing political developments. In politics, silence isn’t an option — you must act. I’m playing my part, but I can’t disclose what I’m doing. I believe in speaking only after job is done.”
