Mysore/Mysuru: The 50th edition of the Annual Inter-High School General Knowledge (GK) Competition, organised in memory of Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala Founder-President Swami Shambhavanandaji, was held on Nov. 19.

In all, 770 candidates from 39 High Schools of Mysuru city had registered and 633 of them participated. This is a competition exclusively meant for outside students. Vidyashala students do not take part in it. The candidates were required to answer 100 objective type questions in 90 minutes duration. The question paper was set in English.

A panel of judges is constituted every year to decide the prize winners. This time Dr. Lakshminarayana Shenoy, Assistant Director, State Ayurveda Research Centre, Mysuru, K.S. Poornima, Principal, Rotary West School, Mysuru and C.V. Srinivas, Software Engineer (an alumnus), Bengaluru, were on the panel.

The winners are as follows:

X-Division: 1st prize – M.S. Raghunandan, Sadvidya High School (71); 2nd – A. Arnav Singavi, Excel Public School (59); 3rd – D.Y. Supreeth, Sadvidya HS (58); Special Prize – S. Mohith, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School (57), R.B. Chandana, Sadvidya HS (57), A. Shamanth Gowda, Sadvidya HS (56), Puneeth Kiran, Excel Public School (55) and Y. Pradyumna Bhat, BVB School (54).

IX-Division: 1st – G. Jeevan, Sadvidya HS (60); 2nd – Bhavan Ramesh, BVB School (51); 3rd – H.S. Nitin Malangi, JSS Public School, Siddarthanagar (50); Special Prize – M. Sathvik, Sadvidya HS (49); G.V. Dhanvith Gowda, Sadvidya HS (48); K.M. Mukunda Upamanyu, Sadvidya HS (48); G.N. Chinmay, BVB School (47); Preran, Ananthageetha High School (47).

Institutional Prizes [Aggregate marks of the first 10 places]: 1st – Sadvidya HS (559); 2nd – BVB School (509); 3rd – Excel Public School (479); 4th – Marimallappa’s HS (425); 5th – JSS Public School, Siddarthanagar (405).

Rolling Shield: Sadvidya High School, N.S. Road.

It has been decided by the board of judges to award certificates for the candidates securing 35% and above in the IX standard and 40% and above in the X standard. The certificates will be despatched at the earliest.
