Winners of ‘Ideathon – 2020’

Mysuru/Mysore: Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of JSS Science and Technology University (JSS S&TU) had organised ‘Ideathon 2.0 – 2020 Series’ recently to commemorate  National Science Day.

Prof. D.G Rao, Director of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), was the chief guest. Prof. Mallikarjun Aradhya, President, IIC – JSS S&TU, presided over the programme.

Dr. B.S. Harish, Convener, IIC and A.P. Skanda and Raina Jacob, Student Coordinators and other distinguished dignitaries were present.

The event began by invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha. S. Charan, Student Coordinator of IIC, welcomed the gathering and briefed about IIC and its vision of developing a vibrant local ecosystem to encourage and support innovative ideas.

Later on, Samanvitha, core team member of IIC, further highlighted the significance of National Science Day.

Lavita Dsouza, Student Coordinator of IIC, apprised the gathering about the value of ideas and unravelled the motivation behind organising Ideathon 2020.

The Council received around 50 Novel Ideas from the students of different Departments. 

Prizes for Ideathon were announced and three ideas were chosen out of nine shortlisted  by the jury.

First Prize was awarded to ‘Team Kalam’ by Amitkumar, L. Vinay and B.M. Navyashree. The team proposed a mechanism of establishing electrical contact between moving mechanical part and static electrical part with reduced frictional loss and thus increasing efficiency of motor and thereby reducing wastage of energy. The team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.9,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation. 

Second Prize went to K.O. Praphul who proposed Raitha 1.0. The main idea is to propose Artificial Intelligence technology on to IOT device to achieve precision agriculture. He received a cash prize of Rs.6,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation.

Third Prize was given to team ‘Safire’ by J. Gautami, Bhagyavan and C.R. Kiran. The team formulated an idea to avoid back flow of blood in drippers that causes many serious problems in medical field. They received Rs.3,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Appreciation.

Finally, Dr. B.S. Harish, Convener, IIC, proposed a vote of thanks.
