Wins gold in kickboxing

Mysuru’s B.B. Fathima has won Gold Medal in 40-kg category at the National WAKO National Kickboxing Championships-2021 organised by Amateur Sports Kickboxing Association, Maharashtra, at Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, in September.

The events, subject to Government approval, will act as selection trials for the upcoming Asian Kickboxing Championships.

More than 1,500 participants from all over India, nearly 21 States took part in this event which was divided into seven categories (Musical Form, Point Fighting, Kick Light, Low Kick, Light Contact, Full Contact and K-1).

B.B. Fathima is under care by Akram Pasha, a transgender, residing at Gayathripuram in city.

Fathima is trained under S. Jeshwanth, a trainer of Mysuru District Kickboxing Association.

She is currently studying ninth standard at St. Anthony’s School of the city. Apart from her care giver Akram Pasha, she is also getting financial support from several Associations and Mysuru District Kickboxing Association and University of Mysore too have come forward to her help.
