Women in Small Enterprise (WISE), the women’s wing of Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), had organised WISE-X 2017, an exhibition of products of women entrepreneurs at Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road here this morning.
About 25 stalls, exhibiting and selling food items, bags, paper products, designer-wear and a few giving financial and business tips were put up at the venue. The expo concludes at 9 pm.
Inaugurating the expo, M.N. Sumana, Advocate and President, Mysore Merchants Co-operative Bank, asked women to raise to the occasion and fight for their rights. She observed that though more and more women were pursing higher education, the same is not true in the employment sector as their number fell drastically. She sought equal pay for equal work with no gender bias. She said that the Government was extending many benefits to women entrepreneurs but the implementation was not equally good.
Wing Cdr. Gayatri, AFSB, Mysuru, Parvathi Javarappa, Secretary, Adyayan Educational Institutions and Capt. Ritu Yadav, Hot air balloonist, were felicitated on the occasion.
Ramakrishna Gowda, Joint Director, District Industries Centre (DIC), Mysuru, Sudhakar S. Shetty, Vice-President, FKCCI, Bengaluru and A.S. Satish, President, MCCI, were the guests of honour. WISE President Rukmini Chandran presided. Vice-Presidents Geethashree S. Rao & T.A. Vasantha Kumari, Hon. Secretary Kalpana Surendra and Hon. Treasurer Malini Srinivasan were present.
A prog. on Goods and Service Tax (GST) was also held later.
