Woes galore at Panchavati Circle

Sir,

Kalidasa Road is one of the busy roads in Mysuru. It has become a commercial hub due to which vehicular traffic has also increased unnaturally. People throng all the way from Mathru Mandali Circle through Kalidasa Road up to Dejagow (Kuvempu Trust) Circle.

The problems start at Panchavati Circle. Signal lights have started working now to ease the traffic, but only for vehicular traffic! There are no signal lights for crossing for pedestrians. Obviously, it is not only difficult but too dangerous to cross, especially for senior citizens and children. Vehicles zoom past without heeding the pedestrians.

Problems do not stop here; there is no space to stand and wait at the corners for vehicles to pass. As there is no sufficient space, people have to stand almost on the road itself. Also, there is no semblance of footpath from this Circle upto Dejagow Circle. People have to walk on the Road as vehicles move.

This state of affairs exists since many years with no solution. Can the  authorities look into this and take immediate measures?
