Threatens to end life in front of Gram Panchayat or DC Office
Mysuru: A 75-year-old woman, accusing her daughter-in-law of abandoning after selling the house they were dwelling following her son’s death has threatened to end her life in front of the Gram Panchayat Office or the DC Office if she did not get justice.
Addressing a press meet at PatrakartharaBhavan here yesterday, Rathnamma, a resident of Hinkal said that she worked as a labourer, got her son educated and also helped him build a house. But following her son’s death in January last year, her daughter-in-law sold the house and threw her on the street, she alleged and added that despite appealing to the Gram Panchayat and the Deputy Commissioner (DC), no one came to her help.
Rathnamma further said that she had sold her old house at Kabbali village in Gundlupet taluk in 2015 and gave the money to her son, who bought a site at Hootagalli and constructed a house. After constructing the house, everyone began to reside there, she added.
Continuing, Rathnamma alleged that after her son’s death, her daughter-in-law with help from Hootagalli Gram Panchayat officials got the khata transferred to her name and sold the house for Rs. 75 lakh.
Stating that lodging a Police complaint was of no use, Rathnamma said that the order to allow her reside in the house from the Assistant Commissioner was quashed in the DC Court and ordered her to solve the issue in the Civil Court.
Rathnamma said that she is now residing in front of someone’s house and is having food given by others.
She has threatened to end her life if she was denied justice.
