Woman accuses son-in-law of torture; commits suicide

Rajeshwari (50), a resident of Basaveshwara Road near Agrahara, committed suicide by consuming poison at her residence yesterday night.

According to Police, Sowmyashree, daughter of Rajeshwari, was married to one Ravikumar, a resident of Alagudu village in Srirangapatna, a year back. The marriage turned into agony for Sowmyashree as Ravikumar allegedly subjected her to continuous harassment and sent her back to her mother’s place on several occasions.

After Sowmyashree moved the Court, the couple were asked to live together. But Ravikumar is said to have continued to harass Sowmyashree and again sent her back to her native. Unable to tolerate the harassment, Rajeshwari is said to have abused and allegedly threatened Ravikumar of dire consequences over phone.

Ravikumar, who had recorded the conversation, had filed a complaint against Rajeshwari at Arakere Police Station.

Rajeshwari, who learnt about this, committed suicide by consuming poison at her residence last night.

Rajeshwari had left behind a death note accusing her son-in-law Ravikumar of harassment and torture to her daughter, according to K.R. Police, who have registered a case.

Inspector Prakash visited the spot and conducted the mahazar.
