Mandya: A woman, along with her two children, allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her house in Kuppalli village in Pandavapura taluk on Monday afternoon.
The deceased are Niveditha (26), wife of Krishnegowda, their children Ganavi (6) and Ullas (4). A native of Nalahalli village, Niveditha was given in marriage to Krishnegowda eight years ago.
According to the Police, it is learnt that she was suffering from mental depression and on Monday at about 1 pm, when Krishnegowda went to the agricultural field, Niveditha first hung her two children to the wooden beam of the roof with the help of a rope and later she too committed suicide by hanging self.
Niveditha was recently elected as the President of Kuppalli Milk Producers Co-operative Society and Krishnegowda had worked her to get her elected.
Even Niveditha’s parents have good opinion about their son-in-law Krishnegowda and the reason for Niveditha’s extreme step is yet to be known.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Parashuram, Dy.SP Arun Nagegowda, Melukote Sub-Inspector Ganesh, Srirangapatna Circle Inspector Prabhakar visited the spot and got the body shifted to Pandavapura Sub-Division Hospital for post-mortem, according to Melukote Sub-Inspector Ganesh.
