Woman, daughter assaulted over gate installation row

Mysuru: A woman and her daughter were allegedly assaulted by neighbours for questioning the installation of a grilled gate to the lane belonging to the MCC along Kalidasa Road recently.

Latha, a resident of second Cross, Kalidasa Road and her daughter Pooja are the ones who were assaulted.

Latha in her complaint to V.V. Puram Police, alleged that her neighbour Jyothi, along with Kumara, Srikanta, Mani, Nanjunda and Sharadamma, had hit her and Pooja with stones, when they questioned the illegal installation of the gate at the lane in front of her house. The accused also threatened of murdering her if she did not keep quiet, the complaint said.

Both Latha and Pooja are now undergoing treatment at a private hospital in city.

Meanwhile, the complainant Latha said that the Zone-4 MCC officials had served a noticed a year ago to her neighbours which said that legal actions will be taken against those who indulge in encroaching the lane (conservancy) as the said space was public land. The assault incident would not have happened had the MCC officials taken action after verifying the records pertaining to the land.
