Woman dies mysteriously; parents allege dowry harassment

Mysuru: A housewife from Rangaianakoppalu near Mysuru died under mysterious circumstances this morning. She was married eleven months ago and her parents have alleged that she has been murdered by her husband for dowry. A case has been registered at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station.

The housewife has been identified as Thejaswini from H.D. Kote Taluk and she was married to Raghavendra from Rangaianakoppalu. Raghavendra had brought Thejaswini to a private hospital on Kalidasa Road this morning and told the doctors that his wife slipped and fell and had lost consciousness. The doctors, however, could not save her from the jaws of death.

As the news of her death spread, Thejaswini’s parents alleged that their daughter, an M.Tech. Graduate, was being tortured for dowry.  They said that they had spent over Rs. 20 lakh for the marriage and dowry. They said that Raghavendra was pestering their daughter for a car and had assaulted her couple of times.

Police said that Raghavendra had fled from the hospital after bringing his wife there.
