Nanjangud: A 24-year-old woman, said to be depressed, committed suicide by immolating self along with her 8-month-old baby boy at Dasanur village in the taluk on May 30 night.

The deceased are Sindhu (24), wife of Mahadevaswamy and their baby boy Muddu.

A native of Chamarajanagar, Sindhu was given in marriage to Mahadevaswamy of Dasanur about nine years ago. Even after conceiving, Sindhu suffered miscarriages many times and had gone into mental depression. It was only eight months ago she had given birth to the baby boy.

On May 30 night, when the family members were away, Sindhu allegedly immolated herself along with her baby boy. Though both were rushed to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, both succumbed to injuries.

Dodda Kavalande Police, who have registered a case,  are investigating.
