Wife among eight persons arrested

Srirangapatna: KRS Police have arrested eight persons including the wife of a person for giving supari to kill him.

Those arrested are Jayanti Melvin, her friend Vinutha of Palahalli, Ajay, Keerthi, Naveen, Prajwal, Rajesh and Varun.

Details: One Melvin Francis Sequeira, a manufacturer of concrete electric poles, was residing with his wife Jayanti at Mogaralli village in Srirangapatna taluk.

Jayanti, who got suspicious that Melvin was having an extra marital affair, decided to get her husband assaulted so that he would stay with her and planned to get him assaulted by giving supari. She then discussed her plan with her friend Vinutha.

On Feb. 25, when Melvin was proceeding in his car, a gang on miscreants, who came in a car, waylaid Melvin’s car and tried to assault him with machetes and other lethal weapons. But Melvin managed to escape and lodged a complaint with KRS Police.

Based on the complaint and under the guidance of Dy.SP Sandesh Kumar, KRS Police conducted investigation and arrested Jayanti. Based on the information provided by her, the Police have arrested other accused involved in the case.
