Mysuru: A woman reportedly ended her life by hanging at her residence in Saraswathipuram Police Station limits yesterday evening upset over her husband’s alleged illicit relationship with another lady.
The deceased has been identified as B. Gayatri (38), wife of Shivakumar and a resident of No.25, ‘D’ Block, Anandnagar in Sharadevinagar in the city.
Gayatri is said to have hanged herself from the ceiling of a room in her house at about 6.30pm. The incident came to light a few minutes later and she was rushed to Kamakshi Hospital where she breathed her last half an hour later, it is learnt.
Gayatri, a native of Chamalapura in Nanjangud, was married to Shivakumar, a financier about 13 years ago and the couple have two children. Soon after Gayatri’s death, her parents lodged a complaint with the jurisdictional Saraswathipuram Police alleging that Gayatri’s husband Shivakumar had killed her.
They also alleged that Shivakumar’s parents Puttaswamy and Kamala and the woman who was in alleged relationship with Shivakumar, were also responsible for the death of their daughter.
Following the complaint by Gayatri’s parents, the Saraswathipuram Police arrested Shivakumar. The Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
