Woman loses gold worth Rs. 3 lakh while travelling

Mysore/Mysuru: Thieves have stolen a box containing gold jewellery of a woman travelling in a bus in city on Monday.

The woman, who lost her jewellery is Kamala, a resident of Hebbal 1st Stage here.

On Apr. 12, Kamala, who had been to Saligrama to take part in a religious function returned to Mysuru and stayed overnight in her daughter’s house at Yelwal.

Next day, Kamala left for her house in Hebbal and before leaving the house, she kept the gold jewellery in a box and placed it inside her vanity bag. She then boarded a bus, alighted at Vontikoppal and visited Venkataramanaswamy Temple.

She again took a bus and alighted at Hebbal Arch in Metagalli, where she boarded a Tata Ace vehicle and alighted at Basavanagudi Circle. Upon reaching her house, she checked her vanity bag only to find the zipper open and the jewellery box missing.

The jewellery box contained 32-gram gold chain, four-gram finger ring, another finger ring weighing 7-gram and a pair of earrings weighing 5 grams, all worth about Rs. 3 lakh.

Suspecting that thieves may have stolen the jewellery box near Basavanagudi Circle, Kamala lodged a complaint at Metagalli Police Station.  Metagalli Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
